Educational Learning Series
Open Heart UMC is partnering with WAVI to bring to the local neighborhood 5 free classes open to all! Hosted at Open Heart (202 E Indiana St, Rapid City), WAVI will be presenting on several different topics:
*Open Heart will be having our free neighborhood meal and games at 5:30pm on the Tuesdays of these classes, feel free to stop by early and join us!
- Human Trafficking - September 10th, 6:30pm-8:00pm
- Learn the basics of what trafficking is, signs, and resources.
- Intersectionality & LGBTQIA2S+ - September 22nd, 4:00pm-5:30pm
- Learn about how everyone has many identities that make up who they are and the basics of LGBTQIA2S+ identities and respect.
- Everyday Strong - October 8th, 6:30pm-8:00pm
- Training for trusted adults working with or care-giving for children and adolescents.
- Mental Health - October 20th, 4:00pm-5:30pm
- Training on how trauma impacts mental, physical, and social health, and suicide prevention.
- Training on how trauma impacts mental, physical, and social health, and suicide prevention.
- Communication & Conflict Resolution - November 12, 6:30pm-8:00pm
- Learn about the 5 conflict styles and best methods to have respectful conversations even when we disagree.
