Tuesdays Together

I've never been a terribly fancy person. That scarf in the photo is about as fancy as I get.

Don't get me wrong. I do have an appreciation for beautiful things, art, good food, etc... But I am pretty low maintenance about a lot of stuff. I reserve my energy and enthusiasm for things that matter more to me.

This doesn't always serve me well. I sometimes try to simplify things even when others around me are gifted to go "all out" in a certain area. Their gifts need to be honored, and the flames of their enthusiasm fanned... even as I worry about their burnout. :-)

I do believe when people are working within their gifting, what they get BACK from their energy expenditure should usually compensate for what they lose. I pray that it is so (Gene Mason, keep making homemade ice cream if that's "your jam!").

As we enter our school year, we are working to fan the flames of people's enthusiasm, helping them discover new things about God, about themselves, and hopefully get (even more) excited about what God is doing in their lives and how God is leading them. This could be people who have been meeting for worship here since before the church was built, or people we haven't even met yet. We hope all types of folks will engage.

Our Sunday morning learning (see previous blog, "Transforming Struggle") options are going to be great. I have no doubt.

We also know Sundays just don't work for everyone. So, here's another option, weekly... Tuesdays Together.

  • Tuesdays Together begin September 13th, and are WEEKLY chances for us to explore faith at 6:30 pm, and include a MONTHLY public meal, the second Tuesday, before class at 6 pm.
  • Tuesdays Together are opportunities to intentionally learn and grow, especially for adults who struggle with staying another hour after worship on Sunday, and for YOUTH (yay!) in the 6th grade and up. We will start with people of all ages together for the opening of each session, then separate olders and youngers for more discussion.  If you need care for younger children in order to attend, please let us know in advance, and we'll see what we can do.
  • Tuesdays Together are where you can engage even if you can't—or don't want to—come to Sunday worship... It's ok!
  • Tuesdays Together are opportunities for people of all experiences, including those who are new to the Bible, to learn more about faith in an un-fancy way... but with cool (free) resources. No book purchase is required.
  • Tuesdays Together are another day during the week for us to connect with one another, with God, and with the world around us. Being a follower of Jesus isn't just for Sunday mornings, after all. Christ didn't consider himself fancy either. He is our Savior every day, not just Easter and Christmas.

If we get a nice-sized group of people signed up for the class, we may even look at doing food weekly for students. We will talk about it once we see who's joining.

Please. Join us. There's a spot for you here.

Join us even if we've never seen you before

...or haven't seen you since the pandemic began (Habits are hard to break, but you can do it!),

...or haven't since I became the Pastor here (Change is hard, but you can do it!),

...or haven't since you decided you didn't need "church" anymore, though God was still cool.

Join us if you always used to, but life has gotten away from you and breathing room is scarce, but Tuesday is gonna work, now, for a while...

Join us if we see you all the time and you have Tuesdays free. You already know we love you.

Join us even if you are here all the time, but don't remember the last time you were part of a Bible class (cuz class just isn't your thing)... Or even if you've taken every class you've ever been offered. This one is going to be somewhat different, and we think you'll like it.

My confirmation students from this spring, you are all confirmed now, but you said you wanted to keep growing. I really, really, really, REALLY hope you can attend. At least sometimes. I miss you. This is partially from The Bible Project. You loved that stuff the most, remember?

If you (any of you) feel God calling you to grow, to stretch, to seek... It may be that God is calling you into community, to this class.

We need to learn from you just as much.

And, if you are fancy, and like fancy things, there is a place for you here. Just know that I'm not... fancy. :-)

We would love to have you join us. Doug Diehl is the primary leader. I'll be there too.

Blessed to serve as Pastor,
~ Michele
